Avelin Metodiev

Biography

My name is Ivelin Metodiev. I am a freelance photographer from Burgas, Bulgaria, currently in the second year of a degree in Photography at the Univeristy of Portsmouth, UK. I am constantly traveling between Bulgaria and UK and, with sufficient prior arrangement, I am available for assignments in both places.

Photography has always been a passion for me, so it was only natural when I started my freelancing photography practice several years ago. Since then, I have gained experience in a broad array of photographic genres, specialising in Portraiture and Event Photography. My assignments are ranging from weddings to sporting events, personal and group portrait sessions and more. I have also been taking different photography related jobs, including post processing, assisting, etc.

Working across different cultures has given me a broader overview on contemporary photographical issues. I have participated in and won various photographic and design competitions and have had my work showcased in exhibitions and catalogues. In my practice I employ a blend of digital and traditional techniques. The equipment I use ranges from 35 mm digital and film SLRs, through medium format SLR cameras, up to large format systems. I also work equally well both in studio and on location.

Travel, as already mentioned, constitutes a large part of my life, and I am always open to new ideas and challenging opportunities. I am currently working on several personal projects, in the meantime of working on an assignment basis. Apart from my regular work, I have developed great interest in Stage/Music photography and Architecture, and I am working to develop my skills in these fields.
